The past few years we've been showing just a small taste of what Clarion 7
and Clarion.NET is. However, I must confess this is a ruse, as we've never
planned on issuing such products. Our marketing surveys have shown that
Linux is the wave of the future and we are pleased to announce that Clarion
for Linux is about to be released.
This initial release is for Redhat, but other variations are planned for
release soon afterwards. I can tell you that the release date is targeted
for April 15th. We *are* going to ship on that date, no matter what. Take
it to the bank.
Since this release does not require any GUI, the entire language is command
line driven. Thanks to Ron Schofield for showing us the errors of our ways
and leading the development effort. And since this is Clarion, we
re-invented Perl so Clarion looks a lot more like Perl.
Dave Harms will soon publish a series of articles explaining why this is so
cool. Russ Eggen will launch a world wide road show proving how cool this
stuff is. He is accompanied by Shawn Mason who desperately wants to be as
cool as Russ, but attend these roadshows anyway, Shawn needs some
encouraging words (and a few pills).
I'd also like to thank Andy "Cowboy" Stapleton who lead the development of
the PostGre SQL drivers and now thanks to his efforts, we can talk to any
database ever invented. Good job on "getter done!" He could not have
pulled this off without the efforts of Ross Santos. Those dolphins jokes
kept the whole development team in stitches.
Mike Gould is also commended for introducing the team to some wicked
Manhattan Iced Teas. We did not get much done, but after 2 of those
puppies, who effin cares?
The initial release of Clarion for Linux will be in French. Bernard
Grosperrin proved to us that Art Bonds really has no clue when he decided to
side with WinDev. Tsk-tsk! So we are going straight after that market.
Andrew Guidroz concurs and there soon will be a Cajun variation so he can
make apps for his lending business. Andrew, see me after the release, I
need to ask about a loan.
Larry Teames and Lee White did all the reports and faxing. Despite the
command line interface, reports in Clarion are a real hoot! I doubt anyone
will do anything but reports thanks to Team Tequila.
And finally, to Ben Brady and Robert Paresi. Thank you so much for keeping
us on an even keel. Without your kind words and sage advice after all these
years, this would never have been possible. Your free licenses will be sent
soon as well as some really slick left handed Softvelocity coffee mugs. The
marketing department is opening, if you two would like a job, just give me a
ring on our new 800 number, EAT-SHITE.
This is going to be the best Clarion release ever, and one that will tell
Bill Gates to take his code and stick it to somewhere the sun don't shine.
And he is no longer on our board of directors.
Also, I'd pleased to announce that Linus Torvalds is now a new member of the
board of directors. It was so cute watching Bruce Barrington showing Linus
how Wizatrons worked during the last meeting. Of course, Linus stayed at
Bruce's hotel while he visited.
Who needs a GUI anyway?
I'm posting this here instead of the announcements newsgroups as I am sure
all of you will want to reply to this announcement. Have a nice April 1st!

тут красивые картинки про 7 и .NET. Всё правда - под линукс и на французском - можете сами убедиться.
